Angry at President Trump for halting American aid to Palestinian refugees, the Los Angeles Times editorial board asked this loaded question:
"How do fewer schools and jobs and more hunger help the Palestinians or the cause of peace?"
The biased editorial decried the Trump administration's decision--made in January--to withhold $65 million from the pro-Palestinian United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Earlier this week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that UNRWA funding is still "under review."
Herein lies the problem....
UNRWA was originally created to provide short-term relief to some 750,000 Palestinians displaced in 1948 after five Arab states went to war against Israel. Today, 70 years later, the number of so-called "refugees" has ballooned to more than 5 million!
The reason? UNRWA inflates the count by defining the descendants of Palestinian refugees as refugees, too. The number of actual Palestinians refugees--people left Israel in 1948--is now just 30,000. Their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren account for the rest.
+ + Extortion and lawlessness!
Following the Trump administration's decision to withhold UNRWA funding, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas threatened violence at a U.N. meeting by warning:
"Six million refugees--who will take care of them? If you stop your assistance to these six million refugees who are educated, if you end your assistance, they become terrorists or refugees in Europe. It's either that or you continue to support UNRWA. . . "
Those threats of violence by Mahmoud Abbas are a reflection of his radical ideology and support for terrorism. He celebrates the memories of terrorists who have killed Israelis, calling them "martyrs." And he rewards convicted terrorists in Israeli prisons, giving them lifetime salaries and subsidizing their families. All in direct violation of the Taylor Force Act, which prohibits U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority if it refuses to halt its vicious "pay to slay" policy.
No more "review" needed. The law is clear. That's why, I am asking you to join me in calling for the U.S. State Department to FULLY DEFUND the Palestinians until there is a verifiable end to payments to terrorists and the Palestinian Authority agrees to condemn Palestinian terror attacks on Israelis.
+ + Here is what's being reported about U.S. funding for UNRWA:
According to the Washington Free Beacon, UNRWA sponsors anti-Israel indoctrination programs in Palestinian schools and community centers. And UNRWA, the Free Beacon reports, "has a 'cash assistance' program that involves literally handing out cash to people in Gaza and Syria. There is no accountability or oversight for these disbursements, which in 2016 amounted to $192.3 million. These cash handouts undoubtedly involve an enormous amount of waste, fraud, and diversion of funds to terrorists and other bad actors."
+ + One more thing!
The L.A. Times opening sentence further exposes their bias: "The Gaza Strip, where more than 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers during mass protests in recent weeks, is a dense and dismal sliver of land along the Mediterranean Coast between Egypt and Israel."
Fact check: Of the "more than 100 Palestinians" killed, some 83 were confirmed by an Israeli research group to be terrorists or affiliated with terrorist organizations. And while the L. A. Times and other establishment media outlets want us to believe that the Hamas-led actions on the Gaza-Israel border were "protests," they were, in actuality, riots bordering on acts of war with intent to maim, kidnap, and kill Israelis.
Thank you for joining with me!
God bless you. God bless the USA. God bless Israel.
