Israel: Threats of a major conflict

The situation on Israel's southern border is intolerable. Not only does Hamas torture its own citizens, as a new Human Rights Watch reveals, it’s also dedicated to Israel’s destruction. Hamas has staged deadly, smoke-filled riots on Israel’s southern border for almost seven months.

In response, Israel’s Defense Minister told a Knesset committee: "We have examined all the options and Israel’s final resort is to strike at Hamas.”

This is why your prayer for the peace of Jerusalem and all of Israel are so needed now. Please join me in praying for Israel, for great wisdom for its leaders and that lives will be spared if conflict comes. See my important update below -- Mat.

Fueled by hatred for Israel and lured by Hamas cash payments, masses of radical Palestinians wage violent demonstrations weekly on the Israeli border. The situation is intolerable for Israelis on the Gaza border. The incendiary balloons and kites launched by Hamas have destroyed HALF of Israel’s forests near Gaza, says one study.

In response, the IDF is now staged on the border and ready to act decisively, if given the signal to restore order.

"Israel has reached a breaking point regarding the situation in Gaza, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said on Monday, and ‘anything less than the toughest response won’t help anymore. We have exhausted the other options,’” as reported by the Jerusalem Post.

+ + "Pay for Terror" revisited

Depicted as "popular" protests, these Palestinian riots and clashes along the Gaza border have now entered their seventh month, with thirty weeks of clashes that have killed almost two hundred in Gaza and led to thousands of wounded. Defense Minister Liberman and other Israeli officials have had enough of Hamas' rhetoric and violence.

Liberman said, "There is no popular uprising. There is violence organized by Hamas. Fifteen thousand people don’t come by foot to the border at their own will. They come by bus and are paid… … They pay for every person killed $3,000, each seriously wounded $500, and a moderately injured less than $200."
